SERVICE PROVIDERS IN UGANDA AND THE CRAP THEY CARRY ALONG.

I was having a Chat with Pote on Saturday at a wedding (Which is part of the post) and he mentioned he will be posting everyday. I didn't make such a statement because i know i am very lazy at writing and that is probably why my project has only a title 3 months after being sent to write a proposal. Anyway here is my attempt at coming up with a post today.
I am certain that all of us here have experienced some lousy crap that service providers hired at a function give us. It's funny how people pay so much money to these guys and at the end of the day they give you bitter tomatoes. I was at a wedding on Saturday and I experienced/noticed some of these awful things. I will not mention the inconvenience at the gate all in the name of security check points, al shabab will knock munyonyo out by missiles fired from one of those islands opposite them. This security thing is really getting to me, there is no real checking done, just some smelly guy opening the door doing a peeping tom thing and then slams the door to a point that it slightly moves in towards the passenger seat. Then don’t get me started on open the boot blah blah blah the last time I did my children’s cereal went missing from the groceries I had just got. Oh the wedding as I walked up the steps that lead to the Ball room, I noticed that the area where the guests are supposed to be served from the buffet was transformed into some kind of market place. My first thought was did the couple meet at a market and now have transformed their first day into the theme of the wedding?????????? Hmmmm Interesting, but could they really have asked for this?????? I guess not. The venue had earlier been used as some kind of exhibition area and therefore munyonyo felt it necessary for the guests to perhaps get involved in this market thing before going into the hall for the paaaarrrttyyy. They didn’t confirm this I just made it up otherwise what would be the reason for having a shabby buffet area. I get into the hall find a comfy seat and wait for the other guests to fall in (this fall in thing I have never understood). A few minutes later the other guests take their seats and the waiters and waitresses start going on about their business. A waitress called Olivia was assigned to our general area to take care of our business, and she really did despite the fact that by the end of the night, she had baptized me SANDRA!!!!!!!!!!!!! No offense to any Sandras out there but…………………………………. Oh this is supposed to be about the lousy stuff service providers do, so anyway after the speeches, dinner, cake, Father and Bride dance the after party begun and as soon as it did, the decorator started collecting all her belongings ie table runners, chair tie backs, and all those “not sophisticated” things they feel the need to pack up before the function officially ends. Her defense for this action is people steal the sophisticated items, Do we? I personally have never carried anything from a wedding except for the party favors so for me that was a lousy excuse. Then we got up to dance and guess what the munyonyo crew decided to do!!!!!!!!! Yep stack up their chairs, dismantle the tables basically clearing the hall. Please note that the bride and groom were still around greeting friends and pakachining. WHO DOES THAT? Why do these people feel they have a right to close your party??????? Are they trying to tell us that they are tired we should pack up and go? They get paid so they shouldn’t be tired. I think that was the most annoying thing that evening, right about that time my Mr and I decided to leave…… Ooooh no I didn’t mention I had come with him????? I think it’s a woman thing seeing that the bride’s speech was about everyone but her husband and when she was done he turn and was like “you forgot to say anything about me”. So anyway on our way home we find a road block where police was doing breathalyzer tests on drivers….. Seeing that I am posting this tell you that I either passed it, didn’t take it or pretended that I was going to park and instead zoomed off.
Anyway on a more serious note someone needs to come up and give all the service providers a run for their coins. People pay for these services and at the end of the day it is not customer is king instead it’s Customer is slave you do what the service provider wants and even plead with him/her to play music for an extra 30minutes and yet you had paid for music the whole night………………
